In case you're wondering after our recent posts —  we don’t think digital files are the enemy! Today’s clients expect them. And we know (because digital downloads are such a popular feature in Workspace)  that for many photographers, they’re a vital part of a thriving, sustainable business — and when embraced with intention, they can enhance, not diminish,  the client experience. We love seeing our books and albums used for out-of-the-ordinary projects, so were delighted when Doyle Yachts asked us to create a book to promote their handmade sails. Months later and we get to share it with you. We love how powerful the full bleed pages look, and think this is going to really help set them apart. Doyle chose to order two 12x12 Q Book Lights, and asked us for a complete 80 page design (160 sides). This meant we had enough room for large images, but also space to incorporate text throughout the design to explain different aspects of the sails. Projects To View More >>

This week's 'Album of the Week' goes to Ian and Emma from Ian Scott Photography. "We had the pleasure of meeting with Sarah and Ben several times before the wedding day," Emma says. "First at their pre-wedding shoot, then at the studio for newborn photographs of their baby daughter. They were so chilled out we knew we would have a great day capturing their wedding."  The album is a 14x10 Fine Art Flushmount with a Sahara Faux Leather cover. "Their  wedding venue, Offley Place, is a beautiful country house hotel in Great Offley.  A picturesque setting for a wedding To View More >>

This sample album for Feather & Birch Photography (AUS) features a stunning venue and impressive photography.  Matt from Feather and Birch says, "Mudgee-based, I travel the globe to photograph the world's best weddings. But no matter how far I roam, there’s nowhere like home. This little gem is probably our favourite venue in New South Wales! A big white marquee set amongst the vineyards makes the perfect backdrop for some of Mudgee’s best weddings. "We spend a lot of our weekends out here but this album captures some of our favourites from the 2017 season." The album To View More >>

Canvas covers look great – especially when you add two adorable puppies to the mix. Take a look at this super cute Studio Box we've made for Megan Graham Photography. Unlike buckram-covered Studio Boxes, the printed canvas covers can't be ordered in bulk. We print and fully assemble the mats for you, ready for your customer, although you can order the mats as slip-ins or fully sealed.  Have you ordered a Studio Box yet? By Megan DiPiero   Frustrated with this situation? You’re talking with a hot lead. Conversation is going smoothly. She loves your work! She’s excited about the possibilities for her shoot! And then her biggest question arrives: “How much will this cost?” You tell her your “starting at” prices and then… crickets. Hmmmm… maybe she didn’t love your work as much as she thought. The convo quickly wraps up and you have this pit in your stomach knowing that another one just bit the dust. : ( What to do? Here’s a sales adage for ya. “If To View More >>

CHOICE, TRUST AND TECHNOLOGY Has your lab stopped offering traditional silver halide printing? It’s sad to see such a gloriously refined technology abandoned. With forty years pro lab experience, and chemicals in our veins, we aren’t ready to turn our backs on traditional photographic printing just yet. In fact we think it retains an important place, and we’re committed to the technology. But here’s why the Big Boy Labs are selling the line that silver halide is finished. Their top priority is, and must be, internal efficiency. They have expensive, high-volume machines to To View More >>

Every year or two we ask the fantastic photographers we work with for fresh new images to beautify our website, sample albums, blog posts etc, and the response always blows us away. We call this our Bragging Rights promotion because, even though it’s not really a competition, people are proud to have their work chosen from the hundreds of submissions, and we’re very proud to use them. Our customers come from around the world, and we like to highlight the vibrant cultures, dramatic environments and compelling stories that we see every day in the books and albums we make. This year we To View More >>

I wrote this post two years ago and for some reason never published it, but I think it makes some good points about simplicity and not confusing price and payoff. See what you think... We had an interesting email from a client who also deals with a certain other album company (shame on him – LOL). This company makes a big deal about simplicity … and quite right too. Anyway, he asked them if they'd consider introducing some - gulp - options, and to his frustration they said No. Now to be fair, over the years we've got better at saying No to things that compromise either the integrity of our To View More >>
